Welcome to BabaBlackBead where I share handmade beaded adornments carefully crafted on the west coast. Check out the Blog to learn about my process, what inspires me, and more. Visit the Shop to purchase your one of a kind jewelry. Thanks for stopping by!
Along with my beaded creations, I offer tutorials and beading tips and tricks to help you unleash your own creative potential. My inspirations are drawn from the beautiful landscapes and vibrant culture of the Pacific coast and redwood forests, along with influences from my Alaska Native family and Russian ancestry.
"To adorn is to construct consciousness. To arrange a consciousness that is patterned in alignment to the pattern of nature. For what constructs consciousness more than focus." - Joshua Schrei, The Emerald podcast from the episode: "Universe, Adorned: Ornament in Culture, Cosmos, and Consciousness"
This is the driving force behind all my creative endeavors. I have always loved the focused, meditative state of creating. It began with linking daisy chains and has grown into beaded jewelry designs.
The name Baba (meaning Grandma) Black Bead is a nod to my grandmothers, great grandmothers, and other awesome women who have taught and encouraged me in my creative pursuits...most of all my own creative mama!
I try to source my materials from women and or/Native owned small businesses and all metals are certified hypoallergenic. Please contact me if you need specific findings due to any metal sensitivities or if you prefer a different earing type. Ear wires are standard for most designs but lever backs, huggies, or studs are available upon request.
